Tips on how not to be a traffic light robbery victim

Seven Arrow Security offers tips on how not to be a victim of traffic light robberies.

Criminals use a mixed bag of techniques to get what they want from their targets.

They try their best to outsmart you, they learn your routines and play on your distractions to take advantage of the situation.

“Recently we have had a number of reports of drivers and passengers being robbed in broad daylight while being stationary at red traffic lights or stop streets,” said Jason Mordecai, chief operating officer of Seven Arrow Security.

Fortunately, these types of crime can be prevented simply by paying attention to your surroundings.

Easy ways not to become a victim of a traffic light robbery:

• Snap out of your daily routine and pay attention to people loitering around your car. The longer you are stationary, the greater the risk becomes.

• Before coming to a stop, check your surroundings for anyone or anything that looks out of place. Do not be afraid to make eye contact with the people around you.

• Do not allow yourself to be distracted by your phone when on the road.
