Learners unmask alleged drug dealers

Learners of Eketsang Secondary School allegedly found in possession of illegal substances in police search.

Officers from the Katlehong police visited Eketsang Secondary School, in Ramakonopi East, last Tuesday.

Police were joined by representatives from Boksburg Correctional Services, the Department of Community Safety and Department of Education.

During the visit, a number of crime-related issues were addressed and many learners searched.

“The search yielded fruitful results as a number of the children who were searched were allegedly found in possession of illegal substances, including ntash and dagga,” said Katlehong SAPS corporate communications officer Const Sivenkosi Mtwa.

During questioning, the learners gave police vital information which led to the arrest of two alleged drug dealers.

“The two suspects were arrested while allegedly busy selling drugs on the street,” said Mtwa.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Doctor Sibuyi appealed to the community not to be afraid and to come forward with the names of alleged drug dealers in the area.
