Local crèche celebrates Valentine’s Day in style

Cuteness overload at Elssies Hope, Love and Daycare Centre’s Valentine’s Day Ball.

Elssies Hope, Love and Daycare Centre held their very first Valentine’s Day Ball on Friday morning.

The event filled with cheery faces and glamour, featured a Mr and Miss Valentine 2019 pageant.

To kick-start the event, learners cat-walked across the main stage individually, giving the judges a peak at their snazzy outfits.

This was followed by a dance-off where learners took to the dance floor, with their respective partners in hand, and showed off their moves.

“This is our first Valentine’s Day Ball, and it is a hit,” said Lynn Pretorius, financial director of Elssies Hope, Love and Daycare Centre.

“We anticipate hosting a lot of fun activities this year including our annual Christmas celebration, and we hope all these will help in building the school.”

Sihulame Mehlomakhulu and Channay Hanse hand-in-hand as they await the announcement of the winners in the Elssies Hope, Love and Daycare Centre’s Mr and Miss Valentine competition on Friday.

After the judges’ deliberations, four learners were called back to take centre stage.

Mason Edwards was announced as the first prince and Kabo Molokwane won first princess.

Mary-Jane Horvath stole the show with her dance moves and was announced as Miss Valentine and, the bubbly, Karabo Sekgobela, took home the Mr Valentine title.

Elssies Hope, Love and Daycare Centre’s 2019 Mr Valentine, Karabo Sekgobela took to the dance floor with his partner, Lixa Madlolo.

“A teacher’s passion is to uplift learners and we believe that extra curriculum activities and social events are part of building children and when they are happy that translates to their parents,” Lynn added.

“We care for young minds and it is our responsibility to ensure we build a solid foundation for their academic careers before they head out to Grade One.”
