Louisa boosts learners’ confidence

Buhle Park Primary School’s needy learners gifted brand new shoes.

Louisa Molise, a Spruitview resident, is a young woman advocating for philanthropy in the communities around her.

The founder of Young Woman Group partnered with Hyundai Lenasia, Audible Sound, Go-Zone Water, Ras and Faleni Marketing in order to ensure 32 pairs of brand new school shoes were donated to Buhle Park Primary School on Thursday.

Louisa had a niece who attended the school and after a number of visits to the school, she noticed that many learners walked around in worn-out school shoes or takkies.

She also noticed that though the school offers quality education, it is not a well-off school, nor are the learners, and she sought to lend a helping hand.

Louisa managed to get hold of a list of needy children in the school and began her school shoes project.

“Giving is important,” said Louisa.

“I believe that when we give to others, our blessing finds a way back to us.

“I am who I am today because I was taught the importance of giving at a young age.

“People used to donate things to me all the time, not because I was a charity case but because they identified my needs and decided to help where they could.”

Joining the organisation in the festivities of the day was pastor Stanford Molokomme and guest speaker pastor Lauren McClean who sat among other honoured guests, the parents of the learners.

“It is our responsibility to give back to those living around us,” said Stanford.

“Giving back is not always about money, but it involves effort and energy.

“By donating shoes today, we aim to boost learners’ confidence and promote education.

“When a child grows up confident, they believe they can tackle any challenge.

“They take this confidence into adulthood and we eventually see them running the corporate world.

“We also need to focus on our young girls, and give them equal opportunities for they will run the future.”

Though the target was 40 pairs of shoes, Louisa and her team fell short by eight pairs.

“This is not a once off initiative. It is an ongoing project which I am hoping will grow from this target to perhaps 60 pairs in our next edition,” said Louisa.

“I give back to encourage a culture of giving.

“You grow as a person when you engage in humanitarian activities.”
