EMPD thrills in drilling competition

Impeccable drilling leads to second place for EMPD.

The EMPD Drill Squad acquitted themselves in a splendid fashion at the 2018 Nasrec Rand Show Drilling Competition and as a result, were awarded equipment for the Junior Traffic Training Centres (JTTC).

The officers won bikes and push-wheelers and were awarded these by the Gauteng Community Safety Department.

The squad came second in the competition and took home R20 000 worth of equipment, which included 30 bikes and 120 push-wheelers.

The competition was tough and featured squads from the Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP), Tshwane Metro Police (TMPD), Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) and the EMPD.

Top spot was taken by the JMPD.

The equipment will come in handy this year and in the years to come in the training of junior primary school learners in road safety at the EMPD JTTCs situated in Kempton Park, Benoni and Vosloorus.

Vosloorus JTTC is currently undergoing renovations.
