Sixteen suspects were arrested during a festive season stop-and-search in Katlehong North.
The operation was conducted by officers from the Katlehong North Crime Prevention Unit with the help of detectives from the Katlehong North Police Station.
The accused were arrested for various offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of copper, theft and contempt of court.
A 22-year-old man was also arrested during the operation for the alleged rape of a minor.
Katlehong North SAPS acting station commander Lt Col Joshua Sekhu congratulated the team on a job well done and encouraged the community to call the police for assistance before situations get out of hand.
All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
