Children encouraged to report crime

Primrose police and Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk members take to the streets to teach children about crime.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station and members of the Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk took to the streets of Primrose, recently, to teach children in the community more about crime.

The visit was one of the team’s 16 Days of Activism projects.

The 16 Days of Activism campaign is held annually from November 25 to December 10.

The campaign opposes violence against women, children and the elderly and aims to raise awareness about the negative impact violence and abuse have on society.

“During the tour the children were taught more about crimes affecting their community,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The children also received drawing books, toys and snacks donated by Chubby Chums for the Children’s Homes and Cartoon Candy.

“We appeal to the children within the community to stay safe and alert and to report any criminal activity they might experience or witness,” said Maome.
