Help Sylvie compete in SA champs
Sylvie Richards is hard at work preparing for her next angling competition.
Mike’s Kitchen Lambton showed the Christmas spirit and stood by their family values by hosting a fund-raising evening on Wednesday for Hazeldene angler Sylvie Richards.
The entrance to the restaurant was decorated with posters of Sylvie’s achievements and photos of her in action at various dams.
The recent trophies and certificates received by Sylvie at the recent Central North West Province Angling prize-giving were proudly displayed for all to see.
Dressed in her South African Freshwater Bank Angling step-outs, Sylvie mingled with the diners and took the opportunity to promote her favourite sport by relating what it is to fish at competitive levels.
The evening was so well received that Mike’s Kitchen Lambton invited her parents, Phillip and Georgia, to host a second fund-raiser on December 12 to ensure that enough funds are gathered for Sylvie’s upcoming South African Championships scheduled to kick-off in two weeks at Bloemhof Dam.
“The fund-raiser was a great opportunity to expose other youngsters to the sport of angling and inspire them to take to fishing rods and dams,” said Georgia.
