Be careful as silly season approaches

Primrose police appeal to the community to be careful as silly season approaches.

Primrose police have noted an increase in the number of violent crimes being reported.

“Crimes, where excessive force is used such as hijackings, business robberies and house robberies, have started to increase.

“These crime trends are giving us sleepless nights as police,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

With this in mind, and as the festive season gets closer, the police have sent a stern warning to the community to be more careful.

“Despite the efforts of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk to educate the community about crimes affecting their areas and hand out safety tip pamphlets, it seems our community does not follow the tips given.

“We still see vehicles left on the pavements unattended.

“We are appealing to our community to tighten their security if possible as we head into silly season,” said Maome.

The community can report suspicious or criminal activity to the Primrose Police Station by calling 011 842 0522 or the patrol vehicles on 071 675 6864/5/6/7/8/9.
