Police investigate child’s alleged kidnapping

Katlehong police are investigating a case of kidnapping after a two-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped.

The Katlehong police have opened a case of kidnapping after a two-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped in the Nhlapo Section of Katlehong North.

“It is alleged that a baby, named Moses Mokoena, was fetched from crèche on November 6 by a woman employed to take care of him,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, Katlehong police’s corporate communications official.

“However, the woman has allegedly disappeared with the child.”

During the police’s investigation, the mother, Martha Mokoena, could not give officers any details of the woman she called Lerato, as she had only been working for her for two weeks.

“The mother and police are appealing to the community to come forward if they have any information on the whereabouts of the child or woman.

“According to the information we received, the woman was seen near the Thelle Mogoerane Hospital and a nearby taxi rank, with a baby, requesting donations,” said Ndobe.
