#WARNING – Severe thunderstorms, damaging winds could be expected today

After a couple of scorching days in Germiston, the South African Weather Service warned residents to be on alert as severe thunderstorms and heavy rain was predicted to hit the province between 2pm and 11pm, last Monday.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is dealing with an overwhelming number of uncollected ID documents nationally, and the metro is no exception. According to recent figures released by the DHA, in Ekurhuleni there are approximately 19 150 smart IDs and 1 528 green bar-coded IDs that have not been collected.

In an ongoing effort to curb crime in their area, the Katlehong North SAPS hosted a stop-and-search operation last Wednesday. During the operation, three suspects were arrested for different offences.

Motorists were warned to avoid the N12 highway eastbound between Kraft and Jet Park roads in Germiston on Thursday due to a multi-vehicle accident. It was reported there was a collision involving six vehicles, one being a truck and the other five light motor vehicles.
