Motorists are warned to avoid the N12 highway eastbound between Kraft and Jet Park roads in Germiston due to a multi-vehicle accident scene.
It is believed there has been a collision involving six vehicles, one being a truck and the other five light motor vehicles.
Sanral personnel are on site and told William Ntladi, district manager media liasion for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), that all casualties were transported to hospital by private ambulance services.
Three lanes of the eastbound highway are closed.
Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.
