Police pay Hawk Academy a surprise visit

Officers from the Primrose Police Station, members of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk and community patroller paid Hawk Academy a surprise visit to promote a safe learning environment.

Hawk Academy received a surprise visit from officers from the Primrose Police Station, members of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk and local community patrollers last Tuesday.

The visit was aimed at promoting a safe learning environment, and to address the troubling trend of learners bringing dangerous weapons, illegal substances and other illicit items to school.

“We have received complaints from various schools in our precinct and feel surprised school visits and searches are the best way to address these complaints,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

No illicit items were found during the visit to Hawk Academy.

“A big thank you goes to the school’s management, teachers and learners for assisting us in the operation,” said Maome.

Primrose SAPS station commander Col Albertina Vesi commended the team on a job well done.

“This partnership is not only working wonders for the community it also makes our job much easier. We really appreciate the hard work,” she said.
