Several contact crimes, like house robberies and hijackings, continue to be a problem in Primrose, according to police.
To address these upsetting trends the Primrose police conducted a prevention operation throughout their precinct last Saturday.
During the operation, four illegal taverns were closed and their owners, aged between 32 and 44 years old, were arrested and litres of alcohol confiscated.

“We believe alcohol abuse can be a contributing factor to contact crimes.
“We appeal to our community to apply if they want to sell liquor and to consume alcohol responsibly,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The Primrose police plan to host similar operations in hopes of curbing problem crimes in the area.
All the arrested suspects were charged with dealing in liquor without a licence and taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were released with a warning after paying admission of guilt fines.
