Man found with suspicious substance

Man apprehended by Gauteng K9 Unit for possession of drugs.

While on patrol in Rietfontein Road, last Sunday, officers from the Gauteng K9 Unit noticed a 29-year-old man acting suspiciously.

“They noticed that when the accused saw the marked police vehicle he began searching himself.

“This made them even more suspicious and they attempted to stop him, with the intent to search him,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose.

Before officers reached him he attempted to escape by running into Daisy Road, but he was soon cornered.

“Police searched him and found a clear zip lock packet containing a suspicious substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine,” said Maome.

The man was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station where he was formally charged with drug possession.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
