It has come to the attention of the metro that a hoax message is making rounds informing job seekers that the position they have applied for has become available, and that the applicant meets the criteria.
This is a scam!
The same text message is also sent to people who have not applied for any post with the metro, and, therefore, residents are urged not to reply to the SMS.
The metro’s recruitment system sends email correspondence to job candidates’ email addresses which were specified during registration, notifying them of the status of their applications.
In some instances, correspondence can be through a telephone call.
Furthermore, applications for jobs in the metro do not require any payment to be made.
Should one be required to make a payment in relation to the metro’s recruitment process, residents are urged to report it to the metro’s anonymous Anti-Fraud Hotline on 0800 102 201 or email ethicsinfo@ekurhuleni.gov.za.
