The Taal-Net Group of Schools’ Arts Festival, hosted last Friday, encompassed a variety of contemporary and traditional dance forms, music, theatre, arts and poems.
As one the biggest events on the school’s calendar, it attracted all the 11 Taal-Net Group of Schools, from South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Taal-Net School Meadowdale (Beula Park), situated at 437 Green Road, hosted the one-day show.
“Socially, the event was a means of strengthening intercultural dialogue and promoting a deeper understanding of culture through a shared experience,” said Aaron Chandiwana, the head of marketing at Taal-Net.
“It is the school’s purpose to use the tools of visual art, music, creative movement, and storytelling to enhance teaching, understanding of the content and curriculum implementation,” he said.
Taal-Net believes that through the festival learners can better understand the history of the human race, from cultural and social trends to the economy.

By recording various cultures and their changes through the years, it also brings communities together.
“Students will continue to have the chance to showcase their talents at the festival.
“Their skills can be developed into careers they can later pursue in South Africa’s arts and culture industry, which boasts many employment opportunities,” said Aaron.
