Learn all about city planning and what it means to you

Some of the issues that they may find answers to are the metro’s planning frameworks, land development application processes, illegal use of land and building plan approvals.

The metro’s City Planning Department will host Municipal Planning Day workshops in various venues to enlighten residents about the department’s role in the metro.

The purpose of the workshops is for the City Planning Department to share with the public its objectives, functions, responsibilities and service procedures.

The public will also have an opportunity to engage directly with metro officials about their rights and responsibilities in relation to city planning matters or any issue of concern regarding city planning and how they can partner with the metro to create environments and spaces within which they can live, work and play.

The workshops started at KwaThema Hall on October 15.

The last one will be on November 29 in the Boksburg Civic Centre hall between 9am and 4pm.

Workshops will take place in the Germiston area at the following places:

• Klopper Park hall, situated at 123 Kruin Street, Klopper Park on October 20 and 21, from 9am to 4pm. This meeting is for Germiston, Kempton Park and Edenvale residents.

• Palm Ridge hall, situated at 39 Palm Ridge Road, Palm Ridge on October 23 and 24, from 9am to 4pm. This meeting is for Katlehong One and Two residents.
