Man allegedly hit and stabbed in Rietfontein Road

A man was apprehended by the Primrose police and charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 27-year-old man was arrested last Tuesday by the Primrose police on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The alleged attack reportedly took place in Rietfontein Road, in Primrose.

“The complainant alleged he was entering a shop when he was approached by the accused.

“He allegedly demanded the money the man had in his hand,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The complainant told police he refused and turned to leave the shop.

“The accused followed him and allegedly attacked him, hitting him and stabbing him with an unknown object in the upper body,” said Maome.

The man, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to hospital.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he will be held pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
