Gauteng residents are encouraged to break out their woolly clothes and keep warm as a cold front is predicted to hit the province.
The drop in temperatures is attributed to the cold front, accompanied by snowfall, which is predicted to arrive on the shores of the Western Cape.
The service predicted the cold front would hit the Western Cape on Tuesday, moving to the neighbouring Eastern Cape on Wednesday, and affecting Gauteng by Thursday.

Minimum temperatures in Germiston are predicted to drop to as low as 7°C degrees, while maximum temperatures will be 20°C.
The temperature will remain in the mid to low 20s for Friday, returning to the high 20s by the weekend.

Some simple tips on how to stay warm this weekend:
- Warm yourself first – It’s easier to change your body temperature than room temperature, not to mention more eco-friendly. Instead of turning up the heat, put on another layer of clothing.
- Wear a hat – Your mom may have said that you lose 80 per cent of your body heat through your head, but that’s not actually true. If you’re otherwise clothed, you’ll lose heat from any surface that’s exposed. So put on your hat, even if you’re inside.
- Switch between hot and cold water in the shower – Hot showers immediately warm you up, but cold showers improve blood circulation between your skin and organs, they are also correlated with a stronger immune system
