Taxi overturns, no serious injuries reported

Ten passengers sustain minor injuries after taxi overturns.

A taxi carrying 13 passengers and a driver overturned on Kraft Road and the N12 West on-ramp at 6.44am on Wednesday.

“Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) from the Primrose Fire Station responded to the scene to find that all the patients had been treated by private ambulance crews, namely, Dial–A–Med and Emer-G–Med,” said Eric Maloka, acting media liaison manager for DEMS.

Ten passengers sustained minor injuries, while two sustained moderate injuries.

Patients were transported to Sunshine Hospital, Life Roseacres Hospital and Bertha Gxowa Hospital, the driver and one other passenger refused to be transported.

“DEMS left the driver as he refused assistance from other towing entities, and by the time they left metro police had been redirected to the scene,” said Maloka.

The cause of the accident is unknown.
