Lambton’s Bronwyn drives off in style

She was in desperate need of a new car and now she has one.

It has been a week of thrills and new beginnings for Lambton resident Bronwyn Button-Botha and her family.

Not only was Bronwyn due to start a new job in admin on Thursday, on Wednesday she drove off in a brand new Hyundai Grand i10, as a winner in the Spar Win-a-Car competition.

Bronwyn, who is a regular customer at Fontana Lambton SuperSpar couldn’t believe her luck when she was contacted and told she was a winner.

“When I first received the call I thought it was a scam,” she said.

“I couldn’t believe that I had won, so I contacted the store manager at Fontana Lambton SuperSpar Gert Myburgh and he helped me through the entire process like getting a copy of my ID certified and sending all the necessary details.

“As a regular customer at the store, I was thrilled to be named a winner.”

Bronwyn, who is a recovering addict, said her road has not been easy.

“I was a single mother, with three young boys, and I rode many a train and taxi before I managed to get my first car.

“No one would teach me to drive so I taught myself, but I have never driven a manual car, so I will now have to learn,” she said.

Bronwyn has three sons, Joshua (17) and twins Kyle and Zack (16).

She met her wife Monica in 2007 when the boys were still little.

Bronwyn told the GCN that she was really in need of a car as it has been very difficult the last two months with her car’s engine being overhauled and having no transport.

“Every Friday, my mother Liz Button, and I would walk to the Spar to buy groceries for the week. Now I will be able to get to my new job and anywhere else I want to go,” said Bronwyn.

The family have already decided that next weekend they will go on a road trip in their new car.

“I have never won anything in my life and I am thankful to Spar for making me a winner,” Bronwyn said.

Gert said he was extremely happy that a regular customer had won the vehicle and he thanked Bronwyn for all her support.
