Statutory rape accused threatens to kill victim, father

Primrose police arrested a 36-year-old Makause informal settlement man on a charge of statutory rape.

Concerned that his daughter had not returned home the night before a father called her school to report the incident.

The 15-year-old’s teacher approached her to discuss the incident.

“She allegedly asked the young girl why she had not slept at home or bathed before coming to school,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communication officers for the Primrose police.

The girl explained that she had gone to the home of a 36-year-old Makause informal settlement man who had promised to help her with her homework.

“She claimed that she had slept at the accused’s home and they were sexually active throughout the night.

“In the morning the man allegedly threatened to kill her and her father if she told anyone what had happened,” said Maome.

The teacher reported the incident to the Primrose police and a case of statutory rape was opened and the accused was arrested.

He has appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
