Caltex staff held up by two robbers

Two suspects made off with cash and cigarettes during a late night robbery in Homestead.

Two suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and a cell phone worth R7000 on Monday night after robbing the Caltex garage on Barbara Road in Homestead.

“The two suspects left the shop after purchasing airtime, only to return moments later when they showed the cashier a firearm and demanded cash,” said Capt André de Jager, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni West Cluster SAPS.

“On their way to the getaway car, one of the petrol attendants followed them and one suspect shot one shot into the ground and they drove off.”

One suspect was allegedly dressed in blue overalls and the other was wearing a red jacket.

According to the victim when the suspects walked back into the shop they took out a bag and instructed her to fill it with cigarettes.

She was told not to make a noise, and further instructed her to fill it up with cash.

No injuries were reported and the suspects are still unknown.
