Pamper session and sparkly gifts to bring hope

Solidariteit Helpende Hand introduced a world of hope and colour to underprivileged women in Elsburg.

Spring has sprung, and just as flowers are blossoming, Solidariteit Helpende Hand helped a few underprivileged women from Elsburg and surrounding areas bloom with beauty just as the flowers around them.

Spoil-A-Lady Day boasted pampering sessions offering colourful manicures and pedicures and allowed the women to spring into the new season in style at the Methodist Church in Elsburg last Saturday.

Yolanda Hall, chairperson of the non-profit organisation (NPO), along with her team have endeavoured to focus on breaking the spiralling cycle of poverty through timeous support and project interventions for the enhancement and upliftment of the lives of the less fortunate.

“What better way to celebrate the first day of spring than by spoiling underprivileged women in our community,” said Yolanda.

Booked for motivational talks to help the women find hope in their lives were Christine Crossley, Amanda Knoester and Carina Vermeulen who shared their inspirational life stories.

“We organised three regular women as our motivational speakers because we thought the women would relate more to the everyday-woman than a professional motivational speaker or a celebrity,” said Yolanda.

The entire event focused on reminding women of their innate power, controlling their thoughts and uplifting one another other occasionally.

“We wanted the interaction to be genuine and based on real-life events and not a textbook response,” Yolanda said.

Solidariteit Helpende Hand hosted a Spoil-A-Lady Day event last Saturday aimed at uplifting women in the community. Amanda Knoester, who gave a motivational speech on the day, and Elize Strydom were among the women ready to be pampered on the day.
