Don’t miss the Reptile Expo

The count-down for SaveMe Reptile and Exotics Rescue’s Reptile Convention is well under way.

Prepare yourself for a thrilling experience with creepy, crawly and slithering amazing pets which will be showcased at SaveMe Reptile and Exotics Rescue’s Reptile Convention.

Majestic Nursery situated at 90 Webber Road, Lambton, will host the expo which will starts from 9am to 6pm on Saturday, and 9am to 4pm, on Sunday.

With just two days before the exhibition, there are a few things you need to know before the main event.

Festivities will include a variety of exhibitions, and discussions surrounding the value of feeding your animal healthy food, and the pros and cons of the pet trade.

For those fascinated by plant-eating insects, the carnivorous plant care exhibition will equip you with guidelines on how to care for your carnivorous plants.

Ahead of Arbor Week, there’ll be a tree planting ceremony on both days, courtesy of Grow-A-Tree who donated two yellow wood trees to SaveMe.

Shawn Hefer will lead the talks on venomous snakes.

As a member of the African Snake Bite Institute, Shawn has a plethora of knowledge on snakes and wildlife in SA, and he will share pointers on what to do should you come across a snake in an urban area.

Attendees of the convention stand the chance of adopting a ball python, donated by one of the breeders, for someone who is in a less fortunate position, but would like to own a pet snake.

The recipient of the snake will also be taught how to look after the animal.

Applications need to be handed is during the expo.

SaveMe’s experienced exotic’s vet, along with the SPCA, will give all the animals a quick examination prior to the opening, to ensure that all animals are well and safe for the convention.

An array of pet products will be on sale on both days of the expo.
