Ten suspects were arrested by the Katlehong police over the weekend.

Ten suspects were arrested by the Katlehong police last weekend.

The accused were nabbed in several operations held by the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of the EMPD, between August 17 and 19.

The suspects were arrested for various offences.

Charges included:

Theft out of a motor vehicle: 2

Driving under the influence of alcohol: 2

Shoplifting: 1

Possession of dagga: 5.

The Katlehong SAPS acting station commander, Col Nomthandeki Mthembu, was pleased with the arrests made and commended the team on their continued efforts.

In honour of Women’s Month, she encouraged women throughout the community to take a stand against abuse.

“We must say no to women abuse and women must speak out and not suffer in silence,” she said.

The arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Officers will continue to host similar operations.
