Metro is not associated with entrepreneurship event

The metro is not a sponsor for upcoming event advertised on social media.

The office of Ekurhuleni’s executive mayor Mzwandile Masina has noted a poster circulating on social media about an event allegedly organised for entrepreneurs using the name of the metro as a sponsor.

The organisers named on the poster allege some partnership with the metro and “call on suppliers and entrepreneurs” to partake in the event at a fee.

Masina condemns this in the strongest possible terms and an investigation is underway to trace the organisers, as well as whether there is an official employed by the municipality who has consented to the use of the metro’s brand.

The metro is fully committed to transparency on any information related to business and procurement.

Such information is free and available to the public.

The metro has embarked on programmes and roadshows such as Ntirhisano, partnering with the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) and the Gauteng Provincial Government, to raise awareness about opportunities in Ekurhuleni.

All these activities are done at no cost to the public.

Entrepreneurship is highly encouraged and supported by the metro and any organisation which seeks to exploit aspirant entrepreneurs will be exposed.
