Man nabbed for allegedly assaulting man with a beer bottle

A man was apprehended for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 26-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police recently and charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The incident reportedly took place in Rietfontein Road, Primrose, and was reported to police by the victim after he was released from hospital.

“The complainant alleged he was sitting inside a vehicle with the accused’s girlfriend.

“He left the girlfriend in the vehicle and went to tell friends that he was going home and when he returned to the vehicle the accused grabbed him and accused him of taking his girlfriend,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

He further claimed that before he could explain what was going on the accused hit him twice with an empty beer bottle on the upper body, cutting him.

“The victim required medical attention following the attack,” said Maome.

The accused was arrested and held at the Primrose Police Station, pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
