Warmer, safer and cleaner home for babies

A number of donors made a stop at El-Shammah Home for Abandoned Babies and Place of Safety on Mandela Day to donate a few items on the the home’s wish list.

El-Shammah Home for Abandoned Babies and Place of Safety was delighted to host a number of visitors who came bearing gifts on Mandela Day.

The home had a wish list where they had recorded all their needs and to their surprise they had a number of donors willing to assist.

El-Shammah Home for Abandoned Babies and Place of Safety manager, Allistair Scholtz, welcoming donors and telling them a bit about the home on Mandela Day.

Ziegler Logistics South Africa upgraded their security by installing an electric fence and updated LED lights all around the premises.

They also installed an air conditioner in one of their rooms.

Making the day warmer was Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan, who stopped in with warm, knitted jerseys for the babies and scarves for the staff.

HP stores donated office supplies, maintenance vouchers and baby essentials.

Netcare donated much-needed disposable items in abundance.

“Thank you to everyone for spending time with us and to Diversey for installing new sanitising dispensers and donating much-needed detergents,” said Merencia Scholtz, manager of the home.
