Ackermans at Lambton Court was robbed by four men on Thursday morning.
The incident was confirmed by the Germiston police’s communications officer Const Maxwell Mabunda.
“It is reported that three men entered the store while a fourth acted as a lookout, just outside the shop.
“The men, armed with a black pistol, made off with 210 cellphones,” he said.

He further explained that as the suspects were attempting to make their getaway, EMPD officers, who were in an unmarked vehicle and civilian clothing, noticed them struggling to place a bag in the boot of a vehicle whose driver was waiting inside.
“Becoming suspicious, the officers followed the suspects,” said Mabunda.
The officers followed the vehicle to Stone Arch Square in Castleview, when the suspects noticed them and opened fire.
“The five men jumped out of the vehicle and tried to escape into the Stone Arch Estate.
“One of the men was arrested at Stone Arch Square, and another two outside the estate’s gate.
“The other two men escaped, and we are searching for them,” said Mabunda.

The men were charged with buisness robbery, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
They are being held at the Germiston Police Station pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
