Annual Ahgie-festival set to be fun for all

It’s that time of the year again when Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston holds its annual festival.

After the huge success of the Ahgie-festival over the past few years and the wonderful community support, Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston will once again be hosting a festival.

The event is set to take place on August 4, from 8am to 4pm, on the school’s sports fields.

There will once again be fun for all ages.

Dinky Dolly Nursery School and Heavenly Flowers Private School will keep the youngsters occupied with a programme of events, which will include tag rugby, a Mr and Miss Heavenly Flowers (different age groups) competition and other items for the youngsters.

Primary and high school learners can take part in fun activities, like helicopter flips from the hockey fields.

A flea market (which can still accommodate more stalls) with an array of items like jewellery, plants, ornaments, wooden crafts, bangles and creative arts will be available for the shoppers.

And if you are feeling hungry there will be a host of different food stalls, including curry and rice, boerewors rolls, rib burgers, bunny chows, breakfast buns, pancakes, pizza, cupcakes, sweets and cold drinks available.

Lexus cars, vintage motor cars, motorcycles, a dog show by Paws, a dog show by the EMPD K9 Unit, a show by a Volkspele group, and an open stage where local singers and dancers will perform will all add to the fun.

The very popular House of Horrors (spookhuis) will also be an attraction, as well as the tombola table and other games.

Funky Limos, wrestling demonstrations (10 professional wrestlers), an SANDF exhibition, SAPS and the three local CPFs will all be at the festival.

Epworth Children’s Village will have a bookstall and the LamDel Residents Association will also have a stall.

Senior citizens (70 years and older) can relax in the shaded tea garden with a free cup of coffee or tea and something sweet to eat.

The community is invited to come and join in the fun and get to know the people in their neighbourhood.

There is a nominal entrance fee per person, as well as a parking fee to park your vehicle on the premises.

The school thanks Pick n Pay Lambton owner Jacques van Wyk for the huge contribution towards the festival, as well as Garth Miller of Mike’s Kitchen for their sponsorship towards the school.

All support and contributions towards the school are appreciated.
