Sterilisations take centre stage on Mandela Day
The Germiston SPCA and Dr Larry Kraitzick gave back to the community on Mandela Day.
Animal-loving residents who do not have the means to have their animals sterilised were delighted to be given a chance to do so on Mandela Day.
The Germiston SPCA committee organised a special day where animals were sterilised free of charge at the SPCA’s kennels thanks to the services of Dr Larry Kraitzick, the owner of Bruma Lake Veterinary Clinic.
The event saw 19 animals being sterilised.
Dr Larry has been a vet for 28 years and his practice has been going for 16 years. When asked why he had decided to give back by sterilising animals for residents who don’t have the means to pay for sterilisations, Dr Larry said, “I want to help the community around me. “You see a lot of people helping in informal settlements which I am extremely happy about but people in other areas also need assistance.” The Germiston SPCA plans to make the sterilisation project an annual Mandela Day event.
