Drivers nabbed for alleged drunk driving

The Primrose police arrest six suspects for alleged drunk driving during stop-and-searches.

The Primrose police recently arrested six suspects, aged between 27 and 43 years old, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The arrests were made during various stop-and-search operations hosted at key locations identified by the police.

“Officers stopped vehicles that were driving erratically.

“Alcohol could allegedly be smelt on the drivers’ breath,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The accused were allegedly struggling to talk and could hardly stand when officers asked them to get out of their vehicles.

“They were all taken to hospital for a blood test after which the accused were detained at the Primrose Police Station,” Maome said.

A number of suspects paid admission of guilt fines before being released while others remained in custody before appearing in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
