Stabbing at Dukathole hostel leaves man dead

A man has been arrested by the Germiston SAPS on a charge of murder.

A man was due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder on Friday.

He was arrested at his girlfriend’s house in Tembisa on Thursday.

“The man was arrested after the Germiston police were called to the scene of a murder at 5.30am on June 17 at Khutalo Hostel in Dukathole.

“The victim, Majoka Ayanda, had been stabbed in the throat,” said Capt André de Jager, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni West Cluster SAPS.

At the time of his death he was wearing mustard coloured trousers and a red T-shirt.

“Ayanda was declared dead on scene by paramedic David Malaza and his body was taken to the Germiston mortuary,” said de Jager.

An investigation into the murder was immediately launched and at first, police believed the suspect may have fled to the Eastern Cape.

However, he was later discovered in Tembisa.
