Eighteen nabbed for dagga in separate police operations

Primrose police apprehend 18 suspects for possession of dagga in Primrose.

During two separate police operations in Primrose, officers from the Primrose Police Station arrested 18 suspects for the possession of dagga.

During the operations held in Primrose’s informal settlements, suspects were stopped and searched.

The first was held last Thursday and nine suspects, aged between 24 and 43 years old, were arrested, while the second was held last Monday and saw another nine suspects, aged between 19 and 42 years old, arrested.

“Officers stopped each of the accused after they observed them acting suspiciously.

“We continue to face the challenge of contact crimes in our area and believe that dagga and alcohol are the main cause behind these crimes,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Problem crimes include domestic violence, assaults, rapes and murders.

“We will arrest anyone who is found in possession of illegal substances,” Maome said.

The arrested people were taken to the Primrose Police Station where some suspects paid admission of guilt fines and were released while others appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed.
