Rand Water to launch Mobile Generator Farm

Mobile Generator Farm to be launched to pump quality water during power failures.

Rand Water released a statement on Monday informing its clients of the launch of the first phase of their customised Mobile Generator Farm.

The Mobile Generator Farm is expected to allow water supply to remain uninterrupted should a loss of electricity compromise its ability to pump water.

The generator will be launched on Wednesday in Alberton.

Rand Water operates a pipeline network of 3 500km reaching consumers in Gauteng, the Free State, Mpumalanga and the North West province.

Its largest customers are the metro, the City of Johannesburg and the City of Tshwane metropolitan municipalities.

These customers account for 75 per cent of the water consumed.

“Mandated with the responsibility of ensuring the provision of high-quality potable water to municipalities and industries in four provinces, Rand Water is mitigating its reliance on electricity to ensure an uninterrupted supply of water for consumers,” said Justice Mohale, media relations manager for Rand Water.
