Victim escapes while alleged rapist sleeps

The Primrose police arrested a man in the Marathon informal settlement on a charge of rape.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 29-year-old Marathon informal settlement man on a charge of rape.

The arrest was made after the victim, the accused’s ex-girlfriend, opened a case against him at the Primrose Police Station.

“The complainant alleged that she went to her ex-boyfriend’s home to drop off some of his clothes.

“While she was there he demanded to know who had answered her phone when he phoned her, but before she had a chance to answer him he grabbed her, slapped her and dragged her into his shack,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

In the shack, the suspect allegedly demanded that the woman undress, when she did not move she claimed he took off his belt and hit her with it.

“She claimed he then stripped her and ordered her to open her legs wide. When she refused he allegedly slapped her on her private parts and forced himself inside her without using protection,” said Maome.

The victim told officers that once he had satisfied himself he fell asleep which is when she was able to escape.

The man was found, using a description given by the victim, and arrested.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
