Metro comes to the rescue of the homeless in Makause
The metro rebuilds shacks and donates disaster relief aid to those affected by the recent shack fires in Makause Informal Settlement.
The metro has alleviated the plight of Makause Informal Settlement residents whose shacks were destroyed by a recent fire by rebuilding their shacks.
The rebuilding took place last Friday.
In addition to rebuilding the destroyed shacks, the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) gave the affected residents disaster relief aid which included blankets and food parcels.

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Human Settlements Clr Lesiba Mpya Clr Lesiba Mpya led a team of city officials during the Siyaqhuba service delivery programme last Friday to rebuild the shacks.
“As the metro, we are responding to the call from our destitute residents affected by the disaster.
“Most of the residents here lost everything, and as the pro-poor city, we are bound by our own commitment to serve them and put a roof over their heads,” said Mpya.
