Palesa Pads promotes personal hygiene

Sijabulile Secondary School benefits from #KeepingAGirlChildInSchool.

All across the country we hear stories of young girls skipping school or missing out on sporting activities or who are subjected to unhygienic measures during their menstrual cycle.

With this in mind, Palesa Pads and Thlathlogi Foundation in their joint vision of #KeepingAGirlChildInSchool paid the Grade 10 to 12 girls at Sijabulile Secondary School in Katlehong a visit on Thursday to give a talk on personal hygiene concerning reusable sanitary pads.

Palesa Pads popped by Sijabulile Secondary School with Thlathlogi Foundation and Bongani Rainmaker Logistics for a hygiene chat with the Grade 10 to 12 girls.

“Palesa Pads brings a sustainable solution to the ‘period crisis’ that Africa at large is facing, by manufacturing reusable sanitary pads which last up to five years,” said Tshepo Moabelo, the client satisfaction consultant for Palesa Pads.

“We are dedicated to bringing an end to the cycle of girls missing over three days of school every month due to the lack of pads or the girls resorting to unhygienic alternatives such as newspapers, cow dung and lappies, to name a few, as sanitary care,” she said.

Over 300 girls received Palesa Pads packages and party packs sponsored by Thlathlogi Foundation.

“Our school is fortunate to have been selected as recipients of this donation because these reusable pads will assist our girls greatly as we often run out of pads and are left with no other provisions,” said Khetiwe Dhlamini, the head of the life orientation department at the school.
