No need to panic about Sassa cards says councillor, your existing card is still valid

Local councillor finds out more about the new Sassa cards.

Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan recently met with the area manager for Sassa to find out more about the process of getting new Sassa cards.

Existing Sassa cards are still valid and can be used until the new cards have been rolled out.

“There are going to be two options available,” said Morgan.

“The first option is having the grant paid directly into your own bank account.

“To do this an Annexure C form needs to be collected from the Sassa office, taken to the bank to be verified and then taken back to the Sassa office with a certified copy of your ID, proof of address and your bank statement.

“Then your money will be paid into your account.

“Please note bank charges will be incurred by yourself and accounts can be opened at any bank or at the post office.

She added that the second option will be a card swop.

“A new card will replace your existing card, which you can use as you have been using the existing card.

“There will be no charge to swop your first card, but if you lose the card, you will be charged for a new one,” Morgan said.

“These cards are not yet ready to be rolled out.

“Information will be communicated as soon as they are available and where they can be obtained.”
