Man nabbed for drug possession

A 41-year-old man was recently arrested for possession of drugs in Primrose.

During a routine patrol in Rietfontein Road, a known drug hotspot in Primrose, last Friday, officers from the Johannesburg K9 Unit noticed a man behaving suspiciously.

As the police approached the 41-year-old man he attempted to hide his left hand behind his back and became noticeably tense.

The officers searched him and found a plastic bag containing white powder and a straw in his possession.

“The white powder was later identified as crystal methamphetamine,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The man was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station where he was charged with possession of drugs.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
