Last year the municipality had plans to move the residents of the Angelo informal settlement in Boksburg to Germiston. This was, however, put on hold. “Due to the delayed move of the Angelo residents, the building material in the form of corrugated frames was stored at the earmarked location near Knights so that building could commence if the plans were given the go ahead,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

Making a difference in the community

Desiree Hartslief, Jenny Buchler and Yvonne and Dawn Dalgety are four women determined to make a difference in their community. “While interacting with the Primrose community we began to notice that many residents are going hungry. While there are many reasons for this, one of the most common reasons is that the salaries these households bring in are just not enough to cover all their expenses, and the Fairy Godmothers was born,” said Desiree.
