Update: Power still out in some areas of Germiston

Some people are still in the dark in the city.

With the cold, wet weather moving in yesterday many areas of Germiston were left without power.

The first outage affected Sunnyridge, Sunnyrock, Wannenburg, Symhurst, Solheim, Homestead, Marlands and Gerdview.

Power was restored to those areas except for Collins Street in Symhurst.

This morning power was restored to most of the street but there are still a number of houses without electricity.

Then last night there was another power outage which Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan told the GCN was due to a LV cable fault in the Wannenburg area and the metro’s team gave a three-hour estimate for restoration.

The power was also out in Chris Street in Norton Small Farms, Leondale, Tedstoneville Extension, Elsburg, Hazel Park, Mimosa Park and again in parts of Marlands.

This morning (Tuesday) the power was still out in Elsburg and a number of streets in Klippoortje Agricultural Holdings.
