Working swiftly members of the EMPD Public Order Policing Unit recovered a stolen white Toyota Conquest, last Friday, within an hour of it being stolen.

The vehicle which was stolen in Boksburg at about 2.44pm was found in the Germiston area.

EMPD officers used their experience of places stolen vehicles often end up in to recover the vehicle.

“Immediately after receiving the information about the stolen vehicle, the unit’s members divided themselves into several groups to search for the stolen Conquest at possible hotspots,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, the spokesperson for the EMPD.

“One group was able to locate the vehicle at the intersection of Luvuyo and Kusasa streets in Phumula, in Germiston.

“The vehicle was found abandoned with its ignition tampered with.”

Once the formalities were completed by SAPS forensic members on the scene the vehicle was driven to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for further investigation.
