The metro is aware of the power outage affecting a number of Germiston suburbs and is working to restore power.
The affected areas include Sunnyridge, Sunnyrock, Wanneburg, Symhurst, Solheim, Homestead, Marlands and Gerdview.
Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan told the GCN that there is an equipment failure at the main Sunnyridge substation.
“The metro engineers are busy testing to locate the fault and it is estimated that power will be restored at 6pm,” she said.
