Help drummies get to nationals

A fun fund-raiser is set to take place to help the Grace Trinity drum majorettes get to nationals.

The drum majorettes from the Grace Trinity School for Girls have a wonderful opportunity.

Both the primary school and the high school drum majorette teams have the chance to compete in the South African National Championships.

The event will take place from July 1 to 8 in Oudtshoorn.

In order to make this a reality, a fund-raiser is being held at Luso Africa’s home grounds, Hattingh Park, in Walnut Avenue in Primrose East on May 27.

The funds raised will help to pay for competition fees, uniforms, accommodation, three healthy meals a day, as well as snacks throughout the day and transport.

The school is also looking for sponsorship for tracksuits, T-shirts, sweatshirts and kit bags.

The primary school drum majorettes from Grace Trinity School for Girls are excited to be competing in the South African National Championships.

The fund-raiser will see people enjoying a traditional Portuguese three-course lunch, along with prizes, bingo, raffles, music and lots of fun.

Tickets cost R200 per person and children under 12 pay R80 each.

A cash bar will be available.

Drum majorettes began at Grace Trinity in 2014 in the primary school.

The school started competing in the President’s League in 2015, achieving first place at the South African National Championships.

The primary school was then promoted to the Elite League.
