House break-in implements seized in arrest

One suspect apprehended for possession of house break-in implements in Primrose.

During a recent routine midnight patrol in Fir Avenue, officers from the Primrose Police Station noticed two men standing at the corner of Plum Street.

“The men become noticeably tense when they saw the officers and ran in different directions,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Officers were able to corner one of the men, who was carrying a backpack.

“In the bag, police found bolt cutters, a crowbar, two screwdrivers and side cutters, all to the value of R1 000,” said Maome.

“The suspect could not explain why he was there at that time of the night and why he has such tools in his possession.”

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was charged with the possession of house break-in implements, he will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
