CPF aim to protect the community

The Elsburg Sector One CPF has been hard at work in their efforts to protect the community.

Members of the Elsburg Sector One CPF braved the chilly morning air to help protect runners’ and walkers’ vehicles when they recently took part in their annual Alan Robb Race, hosted by Germiston Callies Harriers at Germiston Stadium.

In keeping with tradition, the day also hosted a 5km fun run, which aimed to raise funds for a worthy charity.

Callies announced that all proceeds from this year’s fun run will be donated to the Care Bear Gauteng Safe House for Abandoned and Abused Babies and Toddlers, in Elsburg, which offers a place of safety to abused, orphaned and neglected children in Germiston.

This was the second year that the race benefited the home, located at 22 Joubert Street, which was established in 2016 and is managed by Zenobia Venter.

Elsburg Sector One CPF members, who were there between 4am and 2pm, were happy to watch over the racers’ vehicles.

“Seven arrests were made for attempted vehicle theft.

“The suspects were transported to the Germiston Police Station by the EMPD,” said Cecile Rademeyer, public relations officer for the Elsburg Sector One CPF.

To help aid their on-going projects, the CPF will be raising funds with the help of K9’s Take Away.

“We are appealing to the community to support us by buying something to eat from K9’s Take Away,” said Rademeyer.

The eatery has a variety of food to choose from and orders can be placed by calling 072 137 1158, orders placed before 10am can be collected in the afternoon and delivery can also be arranged.
