Police nab 16 suspects in daily stop-and-search

Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit hold successful stop-and-search operation.

After a busy weekend and the arrest of 30 suspects, the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit continued their efforts to curb crime in the area with a stop-and-search operation.

The operation which was held last Monday ended in the arrest of 16 suspects, charged with a number of different offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, shoplifting, rape and possession of drugs (which included dagga and nyaope).

All of the accused were taken to the Katlehong Police Station where they were formally charged.

They later appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The unit will continue to hold similar operations in the area.
